The fiction story, “There Were Giants,” can be found in the March/April 2020 issue of Storyworks.
Day 1-
- Find “There Were Giants” in the March/April 2020 issue. Choose “Presentation View” so you can view the story as if you were holding the magazine in front of yourself.
- Read the Up Close box on p. 11. Respond to the question it poses- ““What bonds families together across generations?” Either discuss this with a grown-up in your home or jot down your own ideas, possibly about your own family traditions, before moving to the next step.
- Preview the questions in the margins of the story so you know what to expect and what to think about as you read.
- See the box below to preview a few of the vocabulary words you’ll find in the story.
- Read “There Were Giants,” pausing to answer the questions in the circles in the margins as you read.
*If possible, read and discuss the story with an adult in your home.
